Insulation, Procrastination, & Bug Spray...


Quite a long day of procrastination was actually helpful in getting me up the ladder to find and defeat the last of the roof leaks. Sprayed the joist cavities with bug killer & impregnated the insulative materials as an extra measure before installing insulation above my head on a hot, humid, and sweaty day. After a couple hours of breathing and wearing all that things began to unravel... Moist Spots: an in-depth view

Did someone request a video about flooding? A fact finding mission from topography maps to IRL walk-through before, during, & after the rains. The entire property is a basin that drains from the road towards the creek but the creek has been banked up to prevent flooding towards the road creating a bowl effect in the center of the place. Towards the last quarter of the video It started another downpour that dropped roughly 1.5-2 inches per hour with a tornado spotted a half mile away and the threat of hail and gusting winds. The sky was a strange yellow so some parts of the walk were a bit interesting as the camera tried to adjust the color for "normal" conditions - but - WOW! how this place flooded!!! The entire center of the property drained from the perimeter down towards the center and the focal point of that collection is roughly 400 feet from my front door... I walked the trails to show the aftermath this morning to show just how deep it gets after the higher

Moist Spots 2: the Aftermath

As I awoke to a beautiful sunrise I noted a dark gray wall looming in the west and approaching quickly. We had a clipper moving through and it reversed the advance of the sun for several hours. I decided to survey as much of the property as I could climb my way into in silence today allowing the sights and sounds of nature to speak for themselves. I started walking at 3:18 in the video.
